Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur was founded in 1882 by a group of young members of the Hotspur Cricket Club. The name "Hotspur" was inspired by Sir Henry Percy, a medieval English nobleman known as Harry Hotspur. Tottenham Hotspur joined the Football League in 1908, starting in the Second Division. The club's first major success came in the 1900s when they won the FA Cup in 1901 and 1921. In 1899, Tottenham moved to White Hart Lane, which would become the club's iconic stadium for over a century. White Hart Lane underwent several renovations and expansions during its existence. Under the management of Arthur Rowe in the 1950s, Tottenham Hotspur achieved success with a style of play known as "push and run." They won the First Division title in the 1950-51 and 1960-61 seasons. In the 1980s, under the management of Keith Burkinshaw, Tottenham enjoyed success, winning the FA Cup in 1981 and 1982. They also secured the UEFA Cup in 1984. The formation of the Premier League in 1992 marked a new era in English football. Tottenham Hotspur has been a consistent top-flight club, with occasional forays into European competitions.
